paper making workshop in hawaii

I joined John Ramoa and Susan O'Malley in papermaking techniques using natural fibers harvested from the Pacific Rim. I worked with raw natural fibers such as wauke (paper mulberry), banana and ginger stalks. I was lucky to work with with traditional gampi and mitsumata plants from Japan.

The OrigamiUSA Annual Convention for 2009 will be held at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, June 26-30, 2009. They have invited special guests Carmen Sprung from Germany and Dave Brill from England. The online registration is now open http://www.origami-usa.org/convention2009

I won't be able to attend this year, so I am going to send for Origami USA's "Sorry I Can't Attend" kit. I really like this year's convention special T-shirt design with a wreath of cranes.

Have an afternoon for sightseeing? Here's my suggested itinerary from 2008 for a paper, bread and chocolate tour starting from Fashion Institute of Technology campus.
